Applications & Recommendations

Rustic & Artistic Ceramics

Ideal for sculptures, vases, decorative objects, and artistic ceramic projects where natural textures and a bold, rustic appearance are desired.

Large & Sculptural Forms

The coarse grog content helps large and thick-walled pieces maintain their shape during forming and drying. When combined with controlled drying, it also helps reduce the risk of cracking and deformation.

Hand Building

Suitable for slab building, coil building, and hand modeling. The coarse grog improves the clay body's strength, making it easier to construct tall and wide ceramic forms.

Wheel Throwing

The vacuum-processed clay body performs well on the pottery wheel. Due to the coarse grog particles, a pronounced textured feel should be expected during throwing.

COARSE GROG NOTICE
This clay body contains 25% coarse grog (0.5 mm). While the coarse grog improves strength and shape retention, it also creates a pronounced textured surface. For projects requiring fine details and exceptionally smooth finishes, a clay body with finer grog or a grog-free body is recommended.
STONEWARE FIRING NOTICE
This clay body is designed for high-temperature firing. To achieve proper stoneware vitrification and optimum strength, glaze firing between 1180°C and 1220°C is recommended. Always ensure that the selected glaze, kiln, and firing schedule are compatible with this temperature range.

Product Advantages

  • Enhanced Strength: The coarse grog improves structural stability during forming and drying.
  • Excellent Shape Retention: Helps minimize slumping and deformation in large or thick-walled ceramic pieces.
  • Natural Textured Surface: The coarse grog creates a distinctive rustic appearance with visible texture.
  • Gray-Black Fired Color: Produces a bold, natural finish in both glazed and unglazed applications.
  • High-Fire Performance: Suitable for functional and decorative stoneware ceramics.
  • Versatile Application: Ideal for hand building, wheel throwing, sculpture, and decorative ceramic projects.

Because production conditions may vary, small-scale testing of forming, controlled drying, bisque firing, glaze compatibility, and high-temperature firing is recommended before full-scale production.
