ⓘ What is Tile (Çini) Glaze and How Does it Differ?
Tile glaze is a material coated over designs on bisque that melts during firing to form a transparent glass layer. Lead-based glazes are known in traditional tile art for providing high gloss and making colors appear more vibrant; however, they should be used with caution on food-contact vessels. Lead-free glazes offer a modern, eco-friendly, and non-toxic structure that can be safely used on kitchenware. Both types promise excellent adhesion and a high-quality glassy surface finish within the Cone 08 - 07 temperature range.
