Refsan TG1687 Plum is an artistic low-fire glaze developed to produce intense plum, plum purple, and application-dependent burgundy-purple tonal transitions on tile surfaces. The product is supplied in liquid form at a density of 50-55°Bé. Its consistency can be adjusted by gradually adding water according to the selected application method.

Application Notes

• Mixing: Mix the product regularly before and during application to ensure an even distribution of the color- and effect-forming components.
• Surface preparation: The tile bisque must be clean, dry, and free from dust before application.
• Supplied consistency: The product is supplied in liquid form at a density of 50-55°Bé.
• Water addition: Depending on the application method, 5-10% water may be added gradually and in a controlled manner.
• Gradual dilution: Add water in small amounts rather than all at once to prevent excessive thinning.
• Baumé control: Mix thoroughly after each water addition and, where possible, measure the density with a hydrometer.
• Cellulose information: The product does not contain cellulose. Test its application behavior and surface adhesion on a sample tile before the main application.
• Thickness effect: The intensity of the plum color and artistic surface transitions may vary between thinly and thickly applied areas.
• Form effect: Glaze accumulating in recessed, curved, and horizontal areas may produce more intense plum purple, burgundy, and deep purple tones.
• Flow control: Preparing vertical test tiles is particularly recommended to observe glaze movement under your firing conditions.
• Firing: Fire the product between 920°C-950°C using a schedule suitable for the selected tile body.
• Firing schedule: Peak temperature, hold time, kiln atmosphere, and cooling schedule may alter the final color and surface effect.
• Glaze combinations: Before combining with other glazes, test color compatibility, chemical interaction, and flow on a sample tile.
• Decorative use: Use the product only on decorative and artistic tile surfaces. Do not apply it to food-contact areas.
• Safety: Use suitable personal protective equipment during application and ensure adequate ventilation in the working area.
• Storage: Store the product at room temperature with the lid tightly closed and away from direct sunlight. Protect from freezing.
