Light colored grogged clay suitable for creating surface texture variations using the scratching technique
792 White Grogged Ceramic Clay is specifically formulated for ceramic forms where surface texture is enhanced through scratching techniques. Thanks to its white firing color, it provides a clean and minimal appearance on unglazed areas, while clearly revealing the effect of oxide glazes in recessed and textured sections.

Application Technique (Scratching)
After shaping, the surface of the piece is coated in the areas intended for scratching using a metal scraper. During this process, the rough texture beneath the white clay body becomes visible. The entire surface is then glazed with a transparent glaze containing red copper oxide, and excess glaze is wiped away with a damp sponge. This allows the recessed textures to retain glaze and oxide, while the remaining surface stays white and smooth. After the final firing, a controlled contrast and natural textured surface effect is achieved.
The white firing color allows underglaze oxides and textures to appear clearly
Enables strong surface character through scratching techniques
Suitable for outdoor ceramics, vases, amphora forms, and sculpture applications
