Refsan 756 Ready-to-Use Casting Slip

Refsan 756 Ready-to-Use Casting Slip is a liquid ceramic casting body specially formulated for slip casting in plaster molds. Although supplied ready for use, the slip should always be thoroughly mixed and its density checked before casting to ensure a homogeneous consistency and optimum casting performance.

Applications & Recommendations

Slip Casting

Suitable for forming ceramic pieces in plaster molds. For consistent wall thickness and proper filling of fine details, the slip should be poured slowly and evenly into the mold.

Mix Before Use

During storage and transportation, the slip may settle at the bottom of the container. Mix thoroughly with a mechanical mixer until a completely homogeneous consistency is achieved before use.

Sieving & Density Check

After mixing, measure the Baumé value and pass the slip through a sieve to remove lumps, dried particles, or foreign materials before casting.

PREPARATION BEFORE USE
During transportation and storage, sediment may form at the bottom of the container. Mix the slip thoroughly with a mechanical mixer for at least 10 minutes before use.

A creamy layer on the surface indicates that the slip has not yet reached a fully homogeneous consistency. Continue mixing until the layer disappears and the slip becomes uniform.

After mixing, always verify the Baumé value before use. For best results, use the slip immediately after preparation.
CASTING NOTICE
Ensure that the plaster mold is completely dry and clean before casting. The slip should be free of foam and poured slowly into the mold.

Slow pouring helps minimize air bubbles and foam while allowing the slip to reach thin sections and intricate details more effectively.

Important Usage Notes

  • Environmental Conditions: Slip consistency and density may vary depending on ambient temperature and humidity.
  • Homogeneity: If a creamy layer or heavy sediment is observed, remix the slip thoroughly before use.
  • Sieving: Always pour the slip through a suitable sieve when transferring it from the container.
  • Use Immediately: For optimum performance, use the slip directly after mixing and sieving.
  • Dry Molds: Damp plaster molds may reduce water absorption and extend casting time.
