OZZ GLAZE YD-081 Beach - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

OZZ GLAZE YD-081 Beach is an artistic high-fire glaze that creates reactive transitions in natural sand, beige and warm earth tones. After firing, it produces a calm, organic surface with sandy color variations that change depending on application thickness and the clay body used. It can be used on smooth, modern and minimalist forms as well as textured clay surfaces.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.
Sample Application Information: The samples shown in the product images were brush-applied to high-fire clay bodies and fired at 1210°C. Different clay bodies, coat thicknesses and firing schedules may alter the final appearance.

Application Notes

  • Mixing: Mix the product regularly before and during application to ensure an even distribution of the coloring and reactive components.
  • Coat application: For brush application, apply 2-3 even coats to the bisque-fired surface, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
  • Thickness effect: Thinner applications may display lighter, more natural sand tones, while increasing the number of coats and application thickness may produce richer beige and earth tones.
  • Reactive character: The intensity of the sandy color transitions and surface variations may differ depending on peak temperature, kiln atmosphere, hold time and cooling schedule.
  • Dilution: For spray and dipping applications, add water in small increments, mix the product after each addition and avoid over-dilution.
  • Form effect: Flat surfaces may develop a more balanced sandy appearance, while color intensity and reactive transitions may increase in recessed and textured areas.
  • Clay body selection: The intensity of the sand and earth tones may vary on porcelain, light-colored, dark or speckled high-fire clay bodies.
  • Surface preparation: Remove all dust and residue from the bisque-fired surface before application.
  • Temperature control: Firings outside the specified temperature range may alter the color and surface texture.
  • Glaze combinations: Before combining with other glazes, test chemical compatibility, color transitions and the resulting surface effect on a test tile.
  • Safety: Use appropriate personal protective equipment during application and ensure that the workspace is adequately ventilated.
  • Storage: Keep the container tightly closed and store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
Important Recommendation: The intensity of the sand, beige and warm earth tones, along with the sandy surface effect, may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, peak temperature, kiln atmosphere and cooling schedule. Preparing test tiles with different coat thicknesses and clay bodies is recommended before the main application.
