Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Our Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are fully compatible with this bisque form. Firing is essential to ensure the final product is hygienic and durable.

• Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C to achieve a smooth, high-quality, and easy-to-clean surface.
• Tile (Çini) Application: For artisanal and decorative styles, use tile glazes fired at 900°C – 920°C for a refined finish.

Decorative Options with Acrylics

• Acrylic paints can be used for decorative-only projects that do not require kiln firing.
• Safety Warning: Mugs finished with acrylic paint are not food-safe. Do not use for drinking unless professionally glazed and fired.
• Apply a protective varnish post-painting to preserve the decorative integrity.

Craftsmanship and Material Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque stage, each Wind Mug is a product of artisanal craftsmanship. Due to the casting process, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur, making every piece naturally unique.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

• Surfaces must be free of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
• Adhere to the specific firing schedule of the glaze type used (Ceramic or Tile).
• A pre-test is recommended as different kiln temperatures can slightly impact the final bisque color.
