Viking Vase Ceramic Bisque – Set of 2
Viking Vase Ceramic Bisque – Set of 2 is an unglazed ceramic bisque set featuring two different vase forms with horizontal, curved bodies, designed for painting, glazing, and personalized decoration projects.
Their elongated side surfaces provide a large application area for underglaze paints, ceramic glazes, ceramic paints, geometric patterns, wave motifs, abstract compositions, and color transitions. The small and large vases can be decorated using the same design scheme or personalized individually with different colors and patterns.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The products included in the set are supplied as fired but unglazed ceramic bisque. To make them suitable for holding water, the inner surfaces of the vases must be completely coated with suitable ceramic glazes and fired again at the temperature recommended for the glaze used. Each product must be tested separately for leaks before use.

Painting and Usage Options
- Can be colored with underglaze paints, ceramic paints, and ceramic glazes.
- Geometric patterns, wave motifs, symbols, and abstract compositions can be applied to the elongated body surfaces.
- Continuous borders, lines, and horizontal color transitions can be created along the form.
- The curved structure can be emphasized by decorating the lower and upper sections of the body in different colors.
- A coordinated decorative set can be created by using a shared color palette across both vases.
- Different surface finishes can be created using solid-color, matte, glossy, metallic, speckled, or effect glazes.
- Once properly glazed, they can be used for arrangements with single stems, slender-stemmed flowers, dried flowers, and decorative branches.
- For projects that will not be kiln-fired, acrylic painting, patina, stencil, antiquing, and dry-brush techniques can be applied.
DECORATIVE USE WARNING: Products decorated with acrylic paint or decorative varnish should only be used for dry, decorative purposes. They must not be filled with water or washed under running water.
Application and Firing Notes
- Before painting, remove surface dust with a clean, dry brush.
- The firing temperature should be determined according to the technical specifications of the paint and glaze used.
- Care should be taken to prevent excessive glaze from accumulating around the narrow openings, inner surfaces, body curves, and bases.
- Glaze should be applied in an even thickness to ensure consistent color and texture across the horizontal bodies.
- When placing the vases in the kiln, the base areas that come into contact with the kiln shelf must be left unglazed.
- For products intended to hold water, the inner surfaces must be glazed completely and without gaps.
- The two products should be positioned separately inside the kiln to prevent them from touching each other or other pieces.
- After firing, check the surfaces for cracks, pinholes, sharp edges, or unglazed areas.
WATER USE WARNING: Glazing the products alone does not guarantee that they will be watertight. The correct glaze and firing program must be used, and both vases should be filled with water for a specified period and tested separately for leaks before use.
Display and Handling Notes
- The vases should be displayed on flat, stable surfaces where there is no risk of impact.
- When carrying them, do not hold them by the openings or end sections; support them from the body and base.
- Long or heavy flowers may alter the products’ center of gravity, so arrangements should be prepared carefully to maintain balance.
- When displayed side by side, the two vases should be positioned so that they do not touch each other.
- Due to their narrow openings, compatibility with thick stems or dense flower arrangements should be checked before use.
Handcraftsmanship and Product Variations
Due to the ceramic production process, slight variations in dimensions, weight, surface texture, color tone, body curvature, and opening shape may occur between products. These differences do not affect use and are a natural result of the production process.
TEST RECOMMENDATION: A small test application is recommended before use to check the compatibility of the paint and glaze with the products, the result they produce on the horizontal and curved surfaces, and their firing behavior.
