IMPORTANT NOTE: This product is wheel-thrown, not slip-cast. Due to its handcrafted nature, please contact us for current pricing and lead time information.

Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with the wheel-thrown surface of the M401. Firing is the essential final step to transform the porous bisque into a professional ceramic artwork.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a smooth, high-gloss, and durable finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C can be used for refined, artisanal patterns.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished surfaces are not food-safe and should not be used in contact with water or for functional use.
  • Finish with a protective varnish post-painting to maintain the artistic integrity.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each Vase M401 is unique. Natural variations in thickness, dimensions, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) are hallmarks of authentic hand-thrown pottery and add significant artisanal value to the piece.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of your specific glaze (Ceramic or Tile).
  • A test fire is suggested, as kiln atmosphere can subtly influence the final bisque color.
