Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with the authentic wheel-thrown surface of the M2. Firing is the mandatory final step to transform the porous bisque into a durable, non-porous ceramic art piece.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional-grade, high-gloss finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C can be used for refined, artisanal patterns.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished surfaces are not food-safe and should not be used in contact with water or health-sensitive materials.
  • Finish with a protective varnish post-painting to preserve the artistic integrity.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each Vase M2 is a one-of-a-kind creation. Natural variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) are natural hallmarks of authentic hand-thrown pottery, ensuring every piece has its own character.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of your specific glaze (Ceramic or Tile).
  • We suggest a test fire to observe how kiln atmosphere influences the final bisque color.
