Turtle Candle Holder Ceramic Bisque

Add a touch of nature and artisanal charm to your decor with the Turtle Candle Holder. This high-quality ceramic bisque piece features hand-crafted patterns on its shell, providing a beautifully textured surface for underglaze painting, creative glazing, or traditional decorative arts.

PLEASE NOTE: The decorative patterns on each turtle are hand-finished, so minor variations in design are natural and make each piece unique. Delivered in bisque (unglazed) form. Professional glazing and kiln firing are mandatory for a durable, high-gloss, and heat-resistant finish.

Specifications and Dimensions

With its generous 19 cm length, this turtle figurine serves as a stunning centerpiece or tealight holder once the final firing and glazing process is complete.

Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this bisque. For candle holders, using professional glazes is essential to protect the surface from heat and create a non-porous, vibrant finish.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for professional-grade durability.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C are perfect for showcasing the hand-detailed patterns.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable only for display-oriented decorative projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: If using acrylic paint, we recommend using LED tealights to avoid damaging the paint with real candle flames.
  • A protective varnish is recommended post-painting to preserve the artistic design.

Craftsmanship & Material Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each turtle figurine carries the hallmarks of artisanal production. Natural variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) are hallmarks of authentic pottery, ensuring your piece is truly one-of-a-kind.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of the specific glaze type used.
  • Perform a test fire to observe how kiln atmosphere influences the final bisque color.
