Technical Details and Applications
Painting and Glazing
- Underglaze Decoration: Refsan ready underglaze paints can be safely used on both tile and ceramic bisque surfaces.
- Ceramic Glazing: Ceramic glazes typically mature between 1040°C and 1050°C, producing a smooth and durable surface.
- Tile Glazing: Tile glazes are generally fired between 900°C and 920°C, creating a thinner and more delicate decorative finish.
Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint
- The dish can also be decorated with acrylic paints.
- Warning: Acrylic paint is not suitable for food contact.
- Applying protective varnish after painting is recommended.
Firing Process
This product has been carefully bisque fired at 1050°C. This firing strengthens the ceramic body and prepares the surface for glazing and decoration.
Different firing temperatures or firing schedules may influence the final surface texture and aesthetic appearance.
Possible Variations
Because ceramic bisque products are produced using casting or wheel techniques, slight variations in thickness, dimensions, or surface texture may occur. These natural variations reflect the handcrafted nature of ceramic production.
Different clay bodies may also create natural tone differences. White clay bodies produce lighter bisque tones, while red clay bodies may result in warmer and darker shades.
Product Durability
After glazing and final firing, ceramic products become durable and suitable for daily use. However, care requirements may vary depending on finishing techniques.
Decorative surfaces created with acrylic paint may wear over time with frequent use.
Important Notes for Glazing and Firing
- The product should be cleaned and fully dried before glazing.
- Ceramic and tile glazes mature at different temperatures, therefore the correct firing temperature should be used.
- If acrylic paint is used, applying protective varnish is recommended.
- Different firing temperatures may slightly affect the bisque color, therefore testing before final firing is recommended.
