Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this bisque form. Proper glazing is essential for a hygienic, food-grade surface.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, smooth, and long-lasting finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Use tile glazes fired at 900°C – 920°C to achieve a refined, artistic surface.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-painted bowls are not food-safe. Do not use for serving if finished with acrylics.
  • Applying a protective varnish post-painting is recommended to safeguard the design.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each piece may exhibit minor variations in thickness or clay tone (white vs. red clay). These subtle differences are natural characteristics of handcrafted pottery produced via slip casting.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Thoroughly clean and dry the product before applying any glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements specific to your chosen glaze.
  • A pre-test is recommended, as kiln temperature variations can influence the final bisque color.
  • The technical outcome of the firing and glazing process is the user's responsibility.
