Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Our Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly recommended for the Sun series. Achieving a non-porous and durable finish through correct glazing is essential for hygienic food contact.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, high-gloss, and easy-to-clean surface.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: For artisanal decorative styles, use tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C for an elegant, traditional look.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Ideally suited for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished bowls are not food-safe. Do not use for serving food unless professionally glazed and fired.
  • A protective varnish is recommended after acrylic painting to safeguard the artistic design.

Craftsmanship & Material Variations

Each bowl is carefully fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state. As a product of handcrafted production via slip casting, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur, highlighting the unique character of artisanal ceramics.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before applying glaze.
  • Ensure your kiln temperature strictly matches the requirements of the specific glaze used.
  • Performing a test fire is recommended, as variations in kiln temperature can influence the final bisque color.
  • The technical outcome of the firing and glazing process remains the responsibility of the user.
