Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly recommended for this form. Achieving a hygienic, non-porous surface through proper glazing is essential for daily food use.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a smooth, high-gloss, and professional finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Use tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C for an elegant, traditional look.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Perfect for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing needed).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not food-safe. Do not use for serving food unless professionally glazed and fired.
  • Apply a protective varnish after acrylic painting to safeguard the artistic finish.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Each piece is fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state. Due to the slip-casting process, minor variations in thickness or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur, highlighting the authentic nature of handcrafted pottery.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Ensure the bowl is thoroughly cleaned and dried before applying glaze.
  • Strictly adhere to the kiln temperature requirements for your specific glaze type.
  • Small-scale testing is advised as kiln variables can influence the final bisque color.
  • The technical outcome of the firing and glazing process is the responsibility of the user.
