SP 1517 Finike - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SP 1517 Finike is an artistic high-fire glaze that brings the vibrant energy of the Mediterranean and the sun’s warm orange reflections to glazed surfaces. Subtle whitish reactive effects develop over a vivid orange base, giving the surface dynamic visual depth and a refreshing character. Supplied in a ready-to-use liquid form, the product can create unique color transitions on every piece depending on the application thickness and firing conditions.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Product preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the pigment and reactive components evenly throughout the liquid. Periodic remixing during application is recommended.
  • Brush application: The product can be applied directly to a clean, dry bisque-fired surface. Apply in even coats and allow each coat to dry completely.
  • Application thickness: As the number of coats and glaze thickness increase, the intensity of the orange color and whitish reactive effects may become more pronounced. Excessively thick application may increase glaze movement.
  • Pouring and dipping: For these methods, the consistency can be adjusted by adding approximately 5-10% water. Add water gradually to preserve the glaze coverage.
  • Reactive surface effect: The distribution of the whitish effects may vary depending on the peak temperature, hold time, application thickness, and cooling rate.
  • Clay body selection: Orange tones may appear more vivid and glossy on white and light-colored high-fire clay bodies, while darker clay bodies may produce deeper, more mineral-like results.
  • Vertical forms: Because reactive and glossy glazes may move during firing, a thinner and more controlled application is recommended near the base.
  • Storage: Store the product in its tightly sealed original packaging at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
  • Safety: Appropriate protective equipment should be used during application, and the product should be stored out of reach of children.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive and artistic high-fire glazes may vary depending on the clay body, application thickness, number of coats, peak temperature, hold time, and cooling schedule. Testing on sample tiles under your own clay and kiln conditions is recommended before the main application or batch production.
