Application Notes

• Product preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the crystalline-effect-forming components and pigments evenly throughout the liquid. Periodic remixing during application is recommended.
• Brush application: The product can be applied directly to a clean, dry bisque-fired surface. Apply in even coats and allow each coat to dry completely.
• Application thickness: As the number of coats and glaze thickness increase, the whitish artistic effects and crystalline appearance may become more pronounced. Effects may appear weaker with very thin applications, while excessive glaze movement may occur with overly thick applications.
• Pouring and dipping: For these methods, the consistency can be adjusted by adding approximately 5-10% water. Add water gradually to preserve the glaze coverage.
• Crystalline appearance: The intensity of the crystalline and whitish effects that develop across the surface may vary depending on the peak temperature, hold time, and cooling rate.
• Clay body effect: Jade-green tones and white effects may appear cleaner and fresher on white and light-colored high-fire clay bodies. Dark or grogged clay bodies may produce a deeper, more mineral-like surface character.
• Form and texture: The glaze may collect at varying thicknesses in recessed and raised areas. This can make the crystalline appearance and details of the form more pronounced.
• Firing and cooling: Controlled cooling may affect the development and distribution of the crystalline surface effects. Fast or slow cooling may produce different surface results.
• Vertical forms: Because the glaze may move during firing, a thinner and more controlled application is recommended near the base. Keep the glaze away from areas where it may come into contact with the kiln shelf.
