SP 1408 Şavşat - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SP 1408 Şavşat is a highly reactive, matte-satin high-fire glaze that produces sage and olive-green tones. Moss-green hues and speckled textures intensify in recessed areas, while edges, raised details, and elevated surfaces break into ivory and mustard tones, giving the form natural movement and mineral depth.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Reactive character: The glaze may pool in recessed areas, producing moss-green tones and speckled textures. On edges, raised details, and elevated surfaces, it may become thinner and create more pronounced ivory-to-mustard transitions.
  • Brush application: Applying 3 coats is recommended for a rich, layered surface. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Textured surfaces: The breaking effect may become more pronounced on stamped, relief, carved, and raised forms, emphasizing surface details.
  • Clay body selection: Green and mustard transitions appear lighter and more defined on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled, dark, or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic and antique-looking results.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the reactive and speckle-forming components evenly.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
