SP 1367 Lilac - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SP 1367 Lilac is a reactive, satin-matte high-fire glaze that produces soft lavender, hazy white, and grey variations. The lilac tone becomes richer across recessed and flat areas, while lighter, hazier transitions develop over edges, raised details, and elevated areas to give the form silky depth. It creates calm, elegant surfaces on modern, romantic, and naturally styled forms.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application and Lilac Effect Notes

  • Reactive transitions: Lavender and lilac tones become richer in recessed areas, while the glaze may become thinner over raised and elevated areas, producing hazy white and light grey variations.
  • Brush application: Applying 3 coats is recommended for a rich, layered lilac surface. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Clay body selection: Lilac and lighter transitions appear cleaner and clearer on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic, natural-looking surfaces.
  • Application thickness: Thicker applications may deepen the lavender tone and intensify the variegated effect. Lighter, hazier transitions may appear over thinly glazed edges and raised details.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive and satin-matte glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
