SP 1268 Leopard is a glossy, reactive high-fire glaze that produces dark green, blue, and brown speckles over a warm mustard-yellow base. Irregular speckles and variegated transitions develop during firing, creating a dynamic surface reminiscent of a leopard pattern. It produces bold, distinctive surfaces on decorative forms, modern tableware, and eye-catching designs.

Application and Leopard Effect Notes

• Reactive speckles: The size, density, and distribution of the dark green, blue, and brown speckles may vary depending on application thickness and firing conditions.
• Brush application: Applying 3 coats is recommended for a rich, balanced pattern. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
• Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the reactive pattern-forming components evenly across the surface. Stir again at regular intervals during application.
• Clay body selection: The mustard base and dark speckles appear more pronounced on white high-fire clay and porcelain bodies. Speckled, grogged, or dark clay bodies may produce more rustic surfaces.
• Application thickness: Dark speckles and variegated transitions may intensify in thicker applications. Lighter mustard and earth tones may appear over thinly glazed edges and raised details.
• Flow: Due to its reactive character, pattern movement and flow may increase on vertical surfaces. Leave an adequate unglazed safety margin around the base of the piece.
• Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
