SP 1221 Hamsilos is a reactive, satin-matte high-fire glaze that produces transitions in deep navy blue, ocean blue, and hazy light blue tones. Depending on application thickness, dark navy may pool in recessed areas, while light blue and ice-toned breaks may develop over edges and raised details. It creates deep, dynamic surfaces on tableware, decorative forms, and sea-inspired designs.

Application and Hamsilos Effect Notes

• Reactive transitions: The distribution of navy blue, ocean blue, and light blue tones may vary depending on application thickness, form, and firing conditions.
• Brush application: Applying 3 coats is recommended for a rich, layered surface. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
• Breaking effect: The glaze may concentrate into dark navy tones in recessed areas. Over edges, raised details, and elevated areas, it may become thinner and create light blue and ice-toned variations.
• Clay body selection: Blue transitions appear brighter and more pronounced on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled, grogged, or iron-rich clay bodies may produce more rustic surfaces.
• Application thickness: Dark pooling and reactive variations may intensify in thicker applications. Light blue transitions may become more pronounced over thinly glazed edges and raised details.
• Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the color- and effect-forming components evenly across the surface. Stir again at regular intervals during application.
