Soft Soap is a plant-based auxiliary material used as a release agent between the model and plaster during plaster mold preparation in ceramic and sculpture applications. Applied to the model surface, it helps reduce plaster adhesion and facilitates easier separation of the mold from the model.
When mixed with water and applied to the model surface, the prepared solution forms a thin film layer. This layer helps reduce direct adhesion of the poured plaster to the model, facilitating mold making and separation from the model. It can also be applied to the casting area and mold frames.
The soft soap should be mixed with water until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. The prepared solution should be applied to the model surface in a thin and even layer using a soft brush or sponge.
If excessive foaming occurs during mixing, 2-3% vegetable oil or diesel fuel may be added. For detailed and delicate models, an additional layer of vegetable oil may be applied to the surface after the release agent application.
