Shah Jar Ceramic Bisque (with Lid)

The Shah Jar Ceramic Bisque features a majestic and traditional high-lidded design, inspired by classical Middle Eastern pottery forms. This premium bisque offers a smooth, curved surface that is perfect for intricate underglaze painting, creative glazing, or traditional "Çini" art. Whether used as a decorative centerpiece or a functional storage jar, its elegant silhouette brings a sense of historical grandeur to any collection.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This product is delivered in bisque (unglazed) form and includes a matching lid. To make the jar food-safe and waterproof for functional use, professional glazing and kiln firing are mandatory.

Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this bisque. For functional kitchen use, a lead-free, non-porous glazed finish is required for long-term hygiene and durability.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, high-gloss finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C highlight refined artisanal motifs.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable only for display-oriented decorative projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Items finished with acrylics are not food-safe. A protective varnish is recommended after acrylic application.

Craftsmanship & Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each Shah Jar reflects the unique touch of artisanal production. Natural variations in wall thickness, lid fit, or clay tone are hallmarks of authentic handcrafted pottery.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Both lid and body must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and dried before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of the specific glaze type used.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how the kiln atmosphere influences the final bisque color.
