Application Notes

• Crackle development: The crackle texture may begin to develop during the kiln’s cooling stage and may continue developing for several days after the piece is removed from the kiln.
• Brush application: Applying even, uniform coats is recommended for a balanced surface. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
• Application thickness: Glaze thickness may affect the size and density of the cracks. Thicker applications may produce wider cracks, while thinner applications may create a denser crackle pattern.
• Enhancing the texture: On decorative pieces, the crackle network can be emphasized after firing by applying a suitable decorative ink or diluted oxide and wiping it from the surface.
