SG 1398 Autumn - Ceramingo Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SG 1398 Autumn is a highly glossy, reactive artistic high-fire glaze that creates honey, caramel, and amber tones. Warm honey and caramel tones deepen across recessed surfaces, while edges, raised details, and elevated areas break toward smoky and near-black tones, giving pottery forms strong contrast and dramatic depth.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Color-breaking character: Honey, caramel, and amber tones may intensify and pool in recessed areas. The glaze may become thinner around edges, raised details, and elevated areas, creating smoky and near-black transitions.
  • Brush application: For a saturated and layered surface, applying 3 coats is recommended. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Clay body selection: Golden and amber tones appear clearer on white high-fire clay bodies. Dark, speckled, or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic and antique-looking results.
  • Flow: This glaze may move during high-fire firing. Consider the risk of running toward the base on vertical forms, and avoid applying the product too thickly near the bottom.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in controlled amounts.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the reactive components evenly.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive and fluid glazes may vary depending on application thickness, the clay body, kiln atmosphere, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended to evaluate the risk of running and the final surface character.
