SG 1395 Sahara is a speckled artistic high-fire glaze that creates warm sand beige, cream, and natural stone tones. Brown mineral speckles developing over the light-colored base give the surface the appearance of natural stone and desert sand. It provides a warm, natural, and distinctive surface effect for modern, minimalist, and rustic pottery forms.

Application and Desert Texture Notes

• Speckled character: Dark mineral speckles developing across the surface during firing may give every piece a natural and distinctive appearance. Speckle intensity may vary according to application thickness.
• Brush application: For a saturated sand-beige tone and a distinct speckled appearance, applying 3 coats is recommended. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
• Clay body selection: Sand and cream tones appear clearer on white high-fire clay bodies. Dark or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic, substantial, and natural-looking surfaces.
• Application thickness: Thicker applications may produce a more saturated color and more pronounced speckles. With thinner applications, the underlying clay color may have a stronger influence on the surface.
