SG 1367 Lilac - Ceramingo Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SG 1367 Lilac is a reactive artistic high-fire glaze that creates soft lavender, misty white, and gray variegation with a satin-matte finish. Lilac tones become more saturated across flat and recessed areas, while light, misty transitions develop around edges, raised details, and elevated areas to give the form silky depth. It produces calm and elegant surfaces on modern, romantic, and naturally styled pottery forms.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application and Lilac Effect Notes

  • Reactive transitions: Lavender and lilac tones become more saturated in recessed areas, while the glaze may become thinner across raised and elevated areas, creating misty white and light gray variegation.
  • Brush application: For a saturated and layered lilac surface, applying 3 coats is recommended. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Clay body selection: Lilac and light-colored transitions appear cleaner and clearer on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic and natural-looking surfaces.
  • Application thickness: Thicker applications may deepen the lavender tone and increase the variegated effect. Lighter and mistier transitions may develop around thinly coated edges and raised details.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in controlled amounts.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive and satin-matte glazes may vary depending on application thickness, the clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
