SG 1271 Kula - Ceramingo Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SG 1271 Kula is an artistic high-fire glaze that brings the natural depth and distinctive surface effects of volcanic earth to pottery forms. During high-fire firing, it develops warm earth tones with rusty brown and amber transitions, creating a unique and natural appearance on every piece. Its ready-to-use liquid form helps produce dynamic, dimensional surfaces in rustic, contemporary, and decorative pottery projects.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application and Storage Notes

  • Brush application: The product can be applied directly with a brush. Applying 2-3 coats is recommended to achieve a balanced, opaque surface with distinct transitions. Allow the surface to dry between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Dipping and spraying: The product may be too thick for these methods. Add 5-10% water gradually and in controlled amounts to achieve the appropriate flow.
  • Clay body selection: The final glaze tone and surface character may vary depending on the color and composition of the high-fire clay body used. Amber and rusty brown transitions may appear more distinct on light-colored clay bodies.
  • Application thickness: Thin applications may produce a calmer surface with lighter tones. With thicker applications, color transitions, dark areas, and artistic movement may become more intense.
  • Preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before use to distribute the color-forming components evenly. If settling occurs during storage, strain the product when necessary before use.
  • Storage: Keep the product tightly sealed at room temperature in an area protected from freezing and direct sunlight.
Important Recommendation: The final color, surface effect, and transitional character of artistic glazes may vary depending on the clay body, application thickness, number of coats, kiln firing schedule, and cooling conditions. Testing on a sample tile under your own working conditions before the main application or batch production is recommended.
