SG 1222 Batumi - Ceramingo Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SG 1222 Batumi is an artistic high-fire glaze that creates reactive transitions in deep navy, teal, emerald green and moss tones. Depending on the application thickness, dark green and blue may pool in recessed areas, while mustard, caramel and earthy breaks can develop along edges and raised details. It produces deep, dynamic surfaces on tableware, decorative forms and naturally textured designs.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application and Batumi Effect Notes

  • Reactive transitions: The distribution of navy, teal, green and earthy tones may vary depending on the application thickness, form and firing conditions.
  • Brush application: Three coats are recommended for a rich and layered surface. Allow each coat to dry completely and apply every coat in a different direction.
  • Breaking effect: The glaze may concentrate into dark green and blue tones in recessed areas. It may become thinner along edges, raised details and high points, revealing mustard, caramel and earthy tones.
  • Clay selection: Green and blue transitions appear more vibrant on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled, grogged or iron-rich clay bodies may produce more rustic surfaces.
  • Application thickness: Thicker applications may intensify dark pooling and reactive variations. Warm earthy tones may become more prominent along thinly coated edges and raised details.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the color- and effect-producing components evenly. Continue mixing periodically during application.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic and reactive glazes may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile is recommended before the main application.
