SG 1217 Lavinia - Ceramingo Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SG 1217 Lavinia is a matte and reactive high-fire glaze that creates misty white variations over a soft pink base. Depending on the application thickness, natural transitions in light pink, pearl white and hazy cream tones may develop across the surface. It produces velvety and elegant surfaces on tableware, decorative forms and romantic designs.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application and Lavinia Effect Notes

  • Reactive variations: The distribution of pink, white and cream tones may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body and firing conditions.
  • Brush application: Three coats are recommended for a rich and balanced surface. Allow each coat to dry completely and apply every coat in a different direction.
  • Marble appearance: The misty white variations that develop during firing may create a natural and softly marbled effect over the pink base.
  • Clay selection: Pink and white tones appear lighter and cleaner on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled, grogged or dark clay bodies may produce more rustic surfaces.
  • Application thickness: Thicker applications may intensify the white variations and matte texture. The influence of the clay color may increase along thinly coated edges and raised details.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the color- and effect-producing components evenly. Continue mixing periodically during application.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic and reactive glazes may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile is recommended before the main application.
