SG 1213 Golyazi - Ceramingo Artistic Crystalline High-Fire Glaze

SG 1213 Golyazi takes its name from the lakeside town of Golyazi in Bursa and is a reactive high-fire glaze that brings the crystalline texture of water and misty shoreline tones to clay surfaces. At high firing temperatures, it develops deep, textured lake-blue tones in central areas while breaking into cream and white along edges, raised details and dynamic surfaces, giving the form pronounced depth. Its crystalline structure interacts with light to create a lively appearance reminiscent of reflections shimmering across the water.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Anthracite / Charcoal

Application Notes

  • Breaking character: The glaze may become thinner along edges and raised areas, creating white or ivory breaks. These transitions emphasize the curves and surface details of the form.
  • Brush application: Three coats are recommended to achieve deep lake-blue tones and a crystalline surface effect. Allow each coat to dry completely and apply every coat in a different direction.
  • Clay selection: Crystalline transitions appear brighter and clearer on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic and dynamic results.
  • Firing character: Due to its reactive nature, the glaze may move at high temperatures. With thick applications, leave a sufficient unglazed safety margin around the base and exposed bisque edges to reduce the risk of glaze runs.
  • Dipping and spray application: Depending on the required consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive and crystalline glazes may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile is recommended before the main application.
