SG 1208 Winter Sun is a reactive high-fire glaze that combines ice-blue and mist-gray tones with warm mustard and golden crystal formations. Depending on the application thickness, clay body and firing conditions, it may develop variable crystal clusters, dynamic color transitions and deep artistic effects across the surface.

Application Notes

• Product preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the reactive crystal-forming components evenly.
• Surface preparation: The bisque surface must be clean, dry and free from dust before application.
• Brush application: Three coats over white bisque are recommended for a rich, layered surface close to the sample appearance. Allow each coat to dry completely and apply every coat in a different direction.
• Dipping and spray application: Depending on the required consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
• Crystal development: The size and distribution of the mustard and golden crystals may vary depending on the application thickness, peak temperature and cooling rate.
• Application thickness: Larger and denser crystal clusters may develop in more thickly coated areas. Excessively thick application may increase the risk of glaze runs.
• Fluidity: The glaze may move at high firing temperatures. A thinner application is recommended near the base, especially on vertical forms.
