SG 1125 Tenmoku Brown is an iron-rich, reactive glaze that brings the characteristic Tenmoku surface of East Asian pottery traditions to high-fire applications. It develops deep chocolate-brown and near-black tones while breaking into caramel, rust and reddish-brown along sharp edges, raised details and thinly coated areas. Its glossy, glass-like surface creates rich depth under light, giving contemporary and rustic designs a strong character.

Application Notes

• Coat count and effect: Approximately three coats may be applied by brush. Near-black tones become more prominent as the glaze thickness increases, while rust, caramel and reddish-brown breaks may develop along thinner edges and curves.
• Fluidity: Tenmoku-style glazes may become fluid at high temperatures. On vertical forms, leave a sufficient unglazed safety margin at the base and protect the kiln shelf from possible glaze runs.
• Clay selection: White high-fire clay bodies may produce brighter and more distinct tonal transitions. Dark or iron-rich bodies can give the surface a deeper and more intense character.
• Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before use to prevent the iron-rich pigments from settling and to achieve an even surface.
• Consistency adjustment: Add water carefully for dipping and spray applications, adjusting the fluidity according to the selected method.
• Storage: Keep the product tightly sealed at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
