SP 1398 Sonbahar is a highly glossy, reactive high-fire glaze that produces honey, caramel, and amber tones. Warm honey and caramel hues deepen in recessed areas, while edges, raised details, and elevated surfaces break into smoky grey and near-black tones, giving the form strong contrast and dramatic depth.

Application Notes

• Breaking character: Honey, caramel, and amber tones may intensify and pool in recessed areas. On edges, raised details, and elevated surfaces, the glaze may become thinner and create smoky grey to near-black transitions.
• Brush application: Applying 3 coats is recommended for a rich, layered surface. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
• Clay body selection: Golden and amber tones appear clearer on white high-fire clay bodies. Dark, speckled, or grogged clay bodies may produce more rustic and antique-looking results.
• Flow: This glaze may become fluid during high firing. Consider the risk of downward movement on vertical forms and avoid thick application near the base of the piece.
• Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
• Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the reactive components evenly.
