SG 1275 Tiger - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SG 1275 Tiger is a glossy, artistic high-fire glaze featuring reactive transitions of amber, dark brown, and black that resemble a tiger pattern. Depending on application thickness, it may create dynamic lines, dark markings, and warm layers of color across the surface. It produces bold, distinctive surfaces on modern tableware, decorative forms, and naturally textured pieces.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application and Tiger Effect Notes

  • Reactive character: The distribution of amber, dark brown, and black tones may vary depending on application thickness and firing conditions. Different lines and mottled transitions may develop on each piece.
  • Brush application: Applying 3 coats is recommended for a rich, layered surface. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly before application to distribute the reactive components evenly across the surface. Stir again at regular intervals during application.
  • Clay body selection: Amber and dark transitions appear more pronounced on white high-fire clay bodies. Speckled, grogged, or dark clay bodies may produce more rustic and substantial-looking surfaces.
  • Application thickness: Dark markings and amber transitions may intensify in thicker applications. Lighter, earthier tones may appear over thinly glazed edges and raised details.
  • Dipping and pouring: Depending on the required application consistency, 5-10% water may be added. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic and reactive glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
