Seramiksir Salmon Engobe AST 176 - 175 g

Seramiksir AST 176 Salmon is a ready-to-use liquid engobe developed to give clay surfaces warm, soft, and balanced salmon tones. Suitable for application over white and red clay bodies, it alters the surface color while creating a natural matte, velvety appearance. It can be applied to leather-hard forms by brush or dipping and used both as a primary decorative color and as a base for subsequent glazing.

Food Safety: Before using this engobe on food-contact pieces, it is recommended to test it together with the glaze applied over it under your own application and firing conditions.

Application and Storage Notes

  • Surface Preparation: Apply the engobe to a clean, dust-free, leather-hard clay surface. Excessively dry or wet surfaces may cause adhesion and drying problems.
  • Brush Application: Apply the engobe in thin, even coats to achieve a uniform, opaque surface. Allow the surface to lose moisture between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Dipping Application: Adjust the product consistency carefully to achieve a smoother, continuous surface. Keep the piece immersed for an even amount of time to prevent buildup on the surface.
  • Drying and Firing: After application, allow the piece to dry completely and gradually. Then perform a bisque firing using a schedule suitable for the clay body.
  • Glazing: If a glossy or protective surface is desired after bisque firing, a compatible transparent or colored glaze can be applied over the engobe.
  • Preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before use to distribute the pigments evenly. If settling occurs during storage, strain the product when necessary before application.
  • Storage: Store the product tightly sealed at room temperature, protected from freezing and direct sunlight.
Important Recommendation: The final color, opacity, and surface texture of the engobe may vary depending on the clay color, surface moisture, application thickness, firing temperature, and glaze applied over it. Testing on a test tile under your own working conditions is recommended before beginning the main application or batch production.
