Technical Details and Applications
Painting and Glazing
- Underglaze Decoration: Refsan ready underglaze paints can be safely used on both tile and ceramic bisque products.
- Ceramic Glazing: Ceramic glazes generally mature between 1040°C and 1050°C, creating a smooth and durable surface.
- Tile Glazing: Tile glazes are typically fired between 900°C and 920°C, providing a refined decorative finish.
Firing
Our products are carefully fired at 1050°C to reach the bisque stage. This firing process increases durability and enhances the natural tone of the ceramic body. Different firing temperatures and durations may influence the final surface characteristics and aesthetic appearance.
Acrylic Paint for Decorative Use
- Acrylic paints can be used for decorative painting.
- Warning: Acrylic paint is not suitable for food contact.
- Applying a protective varnish after painting is recommended.
- Acrylic decoration does not require firing and is suitable for decorative use.
Handcrafted Character and Possible Variations
Bisque products produced through casting or wheel techniques may show minor variations in thickness and dimensions. During casting, thinner or thicker areas may appear depending on the structural characteristics of the piece. These variations highlight the uniqueness of each product and reflect the character of handcrafted ceramic production.
Different clay bodies may also create natural color variations. For example, white clay produces lighter bisque tones while red clay results in darker and warmer shades.
Durability and Care Notes
Our products become durable after glazing and firing. However, usage conditions may vary depending on the application. Ceramic items are generally resistant to external factors but should still be handled carefully. Decorative surfaces created with acrylic paint may wear over time.
Important Notes for Glazing and Firing
- The product must be cleaned and fully dried before glazing.
- Ceramic and tile glazes mature at different temperatures, so the correct firing schedule must be followed.
- After acrylic painting, applying varnish helps protect the surface.
- Different firing temperatures may influence the bisque color, therefore preliminary testing is recommended.
