S 2068 Aquamarine - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

S 2068 Aquamarine is a glossy artistic effect glaze that brings the clear blue and turquoise tones of aquamarine to pottery surfaces. Dark reactive particles and mottled transitions that develop during firing over the fresh blue base create a natural and variable ocean-inspired texture. Its distinctive effect character may vary with each application, making it suitable for modern tableware, decorative objects, and sea-inspired pottery collections.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Brush Application: To achieve the characteristic aquamarine color, mottled transitions, and reactive speckle distribution, applying 3 coats over a white clay body is recommended. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Clay body selection: Blue and turquoise tones appear clearer, fresher, and more pronounced on white clay bodies. On red, dark, or grogged clay bodies, the contrast between the base color and reactive particles may vary.
  • Particle distribution: Mix the product regularly before and during application to ensure even distribution of the effect components across the surface. Do not allow the particles to accumulate at the bottom of the container.
  • Consistency adjustment: The product is ready to use for brush application. For dipping or spray methods, add 5-10% water gradually and in a controlled manner to achieve the appropriate flow consistency.
  • Application thickness: Variations in coat thickness may affect color depth, speckle density, and mottled transitions. With excessively thick applications, the glaze may move on vertical surfaces.
Important Recommendation: The final color, flow, mottled character, and speckle density of the glaze may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule, and cooling rate. Testing on sample tiles, particularly in a vertical position, is recommended before proceeding with the final application.
