S 2000 Emerald - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

S 2000 Emerald is a distinctive, fluid artistic glaze that brings the deep, refined green tones of emerald gemstones to decorative surfaces. Its concentrated pigmentation and reactive surface behavior create dramatic color transitions, shadow effects, and richly layered textures across forms. Different artistic results may emerge with each application depending on glaze thickness and firing conditions.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for functional surfaces that come into contact with food, including plates, bowls, mugs, and similar items. It should be used on decorative pieces.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: The product is supplied ready to use at a consistency suitable for brush application. Applying 3 coats over white clay is recommended to achieve distinct color depth and surface effects.
  • Coat application: Allow the surface to dry completely between coats. Apply each coat in a different direction to achieve balanced coverage.
  • Flow control: Because this glaze is fluid, leave sufficient unglazed clearance near the base of vertical forms. Thicker applications may increase the risk of glaze runs.
  • Firing effect: At approximately 1040°C, glaze flow may increase and artistic transitions may become more pronounced on vertical surfaces.
  • Dipping and pouring: For these methods, the consistency can be adjusted by adding approximately 5-10% water. Add water carefully to preserve the glaze’s opacity.
  • Clay body selection: Emerald green appears clearer and brighter on white clay. Dark or grogged clay bodies may produce darker, more rustic, and dramatic results.
  • Effect variation: Clay color, application thickness, number of coats, and firing conditions may alter color intensity, the amount of flow, and surface movement.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic and fluid glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, firing schedule, and firing temperature. Testing on vertical sample tiles before the main application and batch production is recommended to evaluate the amount of flow and color character under your own application conditions.
