S 1012 Turquoise Green - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

S 1012 Turquoise Green is an artistic glaze that brings the antique tones of oxidized copper and deep turquoise-green transitions to glazed surfaces. Its metallic reflections become more pronounced with increased application thickness, creating striking plays of light, especially on relief, textured, and sculptural forms. Color variations that develop along edges and recessed areas add depth and distinctive character to finished pieces.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for functional surfaces of plates, bowls, mugs, or similar items that come into contact with food. It should be used for decorative pieces.

Application Notes

  • Brush Application: Applying 3 coats over a white clay body is recommended to achieve the characteristic metallic depth. Allow the surface to dry between coats.
  • Metallic Effect: As the number of coats and application thickness increase, metallic variations and reflections on the surface may become more pronounced.
  • Flow Control: On vertical surfaces, apply the glaze more thinly and carefully near the base to reduce the risk of excessive glaze flow.
  • Clay Body Selection: Turquoise-green tones and metallic transitions appear clearer on white clay bodies. The glaze tone and surface effect may vary on red, black, grogged, or dark-colored clay bodies.
  • Mixing: Shake or mix thoroughly before application to ensure that the components responsible for the metallic effect are evenly distributed.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and firing schedule. To evaluate glaze flow and metallic intensity, testing on an upright test tile before the main application is recommended.
