GC 1621 Effect Red is an artistic low-fire glaze that produces deep red tones, metallic reflections, and reactive surface movement at low firing temperatures. It develops its characteristic red appearance between 800°C - 850°C but may turn green when the firing temperature reaches 1040°C. Depending on application thickness and firing conditions, it creates variable, powerful, and striking surfaces.

Application Notes

• Preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application until a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Brush application: The glaze can be applied directly to a clean, dry bisque surface. Allow the surface to dry between coats.
• Dipping and spray application: Depending on the application method, 5-10% water may be added gradually and in a controlled manner.
• Firing temperature: Maintain a firing range of 800°C - 850°C to preserve the red appearance. Firing outside this range may alter the color and surface character.
• Thermal transformation: Be aware that the glaze will turn green when the firing temperature reaches approximately 1040°C.
• Metallic character: As application thickness increases, the metallic reflections and reactive surface movement may become more pronounced.
• Clay body selection: Different clay colors may alter the glaze’s red and metallic appearance, as well as its green appearance at higher temperatures.
• Flow control: Before use on vertical forms, prepare a test tile to observe glaze movement and its response to temperature.
• Storage: Keep the product tightly closed at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and protect it from freezing.
