OPK 593 Gold Brown - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

OPK 593 Gold Brown is a low-fire opaque ceramic glaze that combines warm brown and golden tones with a sophisticated fired color character ranging between dusty rose and mink. Its highly covering formula softens the pigments, creating a glossy surface with a subtle pastel effect. When applied in 3 coats over white ceramic clay, it can produce a cleaner, richer, and more uniform mink tone.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Brush Application: The product is ready for brush application. Applying 3 coats over a white bisque surface is recommended to achieve a smooth, rich, and uniform mink effect.
  • Drying Between Coats: Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next. This helps reduce the risk of surface irregularities and color variations.
  • Opaque Character: Its high opacity substantially covers the underlying clay body and helps create a more balanced appearance across larger surfaces.
  • Clay Body Effect: White ceramic clay produces cleaner and more pastel tones. On darker or grogged clay bodies, the color may develop a smokier, deeper, and more earthy character.
  • Consistency Adjustment: For dipping or spray applications, add water gradually and determine the appropriate fluidity through test applications.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly from the bottom upward before use to ensure that the pigments are evenly distributed throughout the glaze.
  • Storage: Keep the product in its sealed container, away from direct sunlight, and protected from freezing.
Important Recommendation: The final color tone, gloss level, and opacity of the glaze may vary depending on the clay body color, application thickness, firing temperature, firing schedule, and kiln atmosphere. Testing on sample tiles using your own clay body and kiln conditions is recommended before proceeding with the final application or batch production.
