Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Customizing your Mona Vase is easy with Refsan underglaze paints, suitable for both ceramic and tile styles. Firing is the essential final step to achieve a professional, long-lasting finish.

  • Ceramic Firing: Use ceramic glazes fired between 1040°C and 1050°C for a smooth, high-quality surface.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: For traditional artisanal styles, use tile glazes fired at 900°C – 920°C for a refined and delicate appearance.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Ideal for display-only projects using acrylic paints, which do not require kiln firing.
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-painted vases are not food-safe and should not be used for functional serving.
  • Applying a protective varnish post-painting is recommended to maintain the decorative look.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Each Mona Vase is carefully fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state. Due to the casting process, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur. These nuances are a testament to the handcrafted nature and uniqueness of each piece.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Ensure the vase is free of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Match your kiln temperature to the specific requirements of the chosen glaze.
  • Small-scale testing is recommended, as variations in firing can influence the final bisque color.
  • Technical results of the firing and glazing process are the responsibility of the user.
