Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this plate. Its broad surface is perfect for large-scale patterns and detailed compositions.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for structural strength and a resilient finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Traditional glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C provide an elegant, thin, and refined surface.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable only for display-oriented decorative projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Items finished with acrylics are not food-safe. A protective varnish is recommended to preserve the painted design.

Craftsmanship & Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each Mertaban Plate reflects the authentic touch of artisanal production. Natural variations in thickness, size, or clay tone are hallmarks of authentic handcrafted pottery.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and dried before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of the specific glaze type used.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how kiln atmosphere influences the final bisque color.
