Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

For professional results, Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints can be applied to these bisque forms before glazing. Firing ensures the longevity and structural integrity of the vase.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a smooth, high-gloss finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Use traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C for a refined, artistic surface.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Hobbyists can use acrylic paints for decorative purposes that do not require firing.
  • Warning: Acrylic finishes are not food-safe and are less resistant to wear than traditional glazes.
  • A protective varnish is recommended after acrylic painting to protect the artwork.

Handcrafted Quality and Variations

Our vases are fired at 1050°C to reach a sturdy bisque state. Due to the nature of slip casting and handcrafting, slight variations in thickness, dimensions, or clay tone may occur. These differences represent the unique character of each Livya Vase.

Firing Safety & Precautions

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before glaze application.
  • Proper kiln temperature management is vital for the
