Lettuce Vase Ceramic Bisque

The Lettuce Vase Ceramic Bisque features a highly textured, organic design inspired by the layered leaves of garden lettuce. Its unique "ruffled" edges and natural folds provide an exceptional surface for specialized glazing techniques, allowing colors to pool and break beautifully over the contours. This high-quality bisque is perfect for creating a vibrant, botanical centerpiece that adds life and movement to any interior.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This product is delivered in bisque (unglazed) form. To make the vase waterproof and ensure professional-grade durability, professional glazing and kiln firing are mandatory.

Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this organic form. Due to its textured surface, it is particularly suitable for reactive glazes or traditional "Çini" colors that emphasize depth.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, high-gloss, and resilient finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C are perfect for showcasing refined artisanal motifs within the folds.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable only for display-oriented indoor projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not waterproof. Do not use for fresh flowers with water if finished with acrylic paint. A protective varnish is highly recommended.

Craftsmanship & Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each Lettuce Vase reflects the unique touch of artisanal production. Natural variations in leaf thickness, curve, or clay tone are hallmarks of authentic handcrafted pottery.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and dried before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of the specific glaze type used.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how kiln atmosphere influences the final bisque color.
