Our products are in bisque form; they become ready for use after glazing and kiln firing.
Painting and Glazing
Our Refsan ready-to-use underglaze paints can be used safely on both tile and ceramic bisque pieces. Glazing improves both the aesthetic appearance and durability of the product.
Ceramic Products: When glazing ceramic bisque products, ceramic glazes must be used. Ceramic glazes generally mature between 1040°C and 1050°C. This glaze helps ceramic products achieve a smooth surface and makes them longer lasting.
Tile Products: When glazing tile bisque products, tile glazes must be used. Tile glazes are fired at approximately 900°C - 920°C. Tile glazes provide a fine and elegant surface.
Firing
Our products are carefully fired at 1050°C and turned into bisque. The firing temperature increases the durability of the products and enhances their colors. Different firing durations and temperatures may affect the surface properties and aesthetic appearance of the products.
Acrylic Paint
Painting with acrylic paints is possible; however, this process is not suitable for food contact. Applying a protective varnish after acrylic painting is recommended. Acrylic painting does not require kiln firing and allows the product to be used for decorative purposes. However, these types of paints should not be used on products that will come into contact with health-related use or food.
Possible Variations in Products
In bisque products made by casting and wheel throwing, especially thickness and size variations may occur. In casting, thin or thick areas may form depending on the structural properties of the product. These variations reflect the uniqueness of each product and the effects of handcrafting.
The use of different clay types may cause natural tone differences in the products. The color of ceramic and tile bisque pieces may vary depending on the type of clay used. For example, white clay produces bisque pieces in lighter tones, while red clay provides darker and warmer tones.
Product Durability
Our products become durable as a result of firing and glazing processes. However, care and usage conditions may vary for each product type. Ceramic products in particular are more resistant to external factors, but still require careful handling. Decorations made with acrylic paint may wear over time.
