Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this Kaftan bisque. The large, smooth surface areas are perfect for practicing precision brushwork and traditional motifs like tulips and carnations.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a resilient and vibrant finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C are ideal for achieving the authentic look of historical Turkish ceramics.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable only for display-oriented projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not food-safe. A protective varnish is recommended after painting to keep the colors vibrant and protect the piece from dust.

Craftsmanship & Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each Kaftan Statue reflects the unique touch of artisanal production. Natural variations in thickness, size, or clay tone are hallmarks of authentic handcrafted pottery, giving each piece its own character.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and dried before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of the specific glaze type used.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how the kiln atmosphere influences the final bisque color.
