GCO 468 Dark Brown - Ceramingo Dark Brown Opaque Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GCO 468 Dark Brown is an opaque low-fire glaze that combines plum, mink and dark brown tones. Its highly covering formula softens the dark color character with a balanced pastel surface while creating a glossy, smooth and uniform appearance. When applied in 3 coats over white clay, it can produce a richer, deeper and more pronounced mink-brown tone.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: The product is ready for brush application. Applying 3 coats over a white bisque-fired surface is recommended to achieve a rich, smooth dark brown effect with mink undertones.
  • Drying between coats: Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next one. This reduces the risk of surface irregularities and tonal variations.
  • Opaque character: Its high coverage largely conceals the underlying surface, reduces brush marks and creates a more balanced appearance across larger areas.
  • Clay body effect: White clay bodies produce cleaner and more pronounced pastel tones. The color may develop a darker and earthier character on red, black or grogged clay bodies.
  • Consistency adjustment: For dipping or spraying, add water gradually and determine the proper flow through test applications.
  • Mixing: Mix the product thoroughly from the bottom upward before use to distribute the pigments evenly.
  • Storage: Keep the product in its closed container, away from direct sunlight and protected from freezing.
Important Recommendation: The final color, gloss and coverage of the glaze may vary depending on the color of the clay body, application thickness, firing temperature, firing schedule and kiln atmosphere. Testing on sample tiles with your own clay body and kiln conditions is recommended before the main application or batch production.
