GC 2055 Fog - Ceramingo Reactive Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GC 2055 Fog is a glossy, reactive artistic Ceramingo glaze that brings the misty atmosphere of a smoky morning and deep gray tones to glazed surfaces. Its fluid character creates dark, smoky tones in recessed areas while thinning along the edges to form lighter, silvery-gray transitions. Its glass-like gloss and variable color character add mysterious depth to decorative objects, sculptural forms and textured surfaces.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for functional surfaces of plates, bowls, mugs or similar items that come into contact with food. It should be used on decorative pieces.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: Apply 3 coats over white clay to achieve the characteristic smoky gray appearance and light-to-dark transitions. Allow each coat to dry completely and apply successive coats in alternating directions.
  • Flow control: This glaze is highly fluid. On vertical forms, do not apply the product all the way to the base and leave a sufficient unglazed safety margin to reduce the risk of it running onto and adhering to the kiln shelf.
  • Clay body selection: Smoky gray shades and silvery transitions appear more pronounced on white clay bodies. The color depth and reactive character may vary on red, dark or grogged clay bodies.
  • Application thickness: Variations in coat thickness directly affect the amount of flow and tonal transitions. Darker pooling may develop in recessed areas, while thinner edges may produce lighter gray shades.
  • Consistency adjustment: The product is ready to use for brush application. For dipping or spraying, add 5-10% water gradually and in a controlled manner to achieve the appropriate flow.
  • Mixing: Stir the product before application and regularly during use to distribute the pigments and reactive glaze components evenly across the surface.
Important Recommendation: The final color, amount of flow and smoky transitions may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, firing schedule and cooling rate. Testing on vertical sample forms is especially recommended before the main application.
